Dr. Aravindan Tharakad S is an experienced orthopaedic surgeon with a special interest in trauma, geriatric orthopaedics, spine conditions, and arthroscopy surgeries. He completed his MBBS and MS in Orthopaedics from Sri Ramachandra Medical College, Chennai, where he developed a strong foundation in orthopaedic care and surgical practice. He also served as an Assistant Professor at Chettinad Hospital and Research Institute, gaining valuable academic and clinical experience. Dr. Aravindan later worked as a Trauma Orthopaedic Registrar at Northern Care Alliance NHS Trust in the United Kingdom, where he was involved in the management of various orthopaedic conditions and trauma cases. He is currently practicing as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Promed Hospital, Kottivakkam, Chennai. Dr. Aravindan has built strong clinical and academic experience throughout his career. From 2017 to 2021, he worked as an Assistant Professor at Chettinad Hospital and Research Institute, where he was actively involved in patient care as well as teaching and mentoring medical students. He later served as a Trauma Orthopaedic Registrar at Northern Care Alliance NHS Trust in the United Kingdom from 2021 to 2023, where he gained exposure to advanced orthopaedic care and trauma management. Since 2023, he has been working as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Promed Hospital, Kottivakkam, Chennai, where he focuses on diagnosing and managing orthopaedic conditions related to trauma, spine, arthroscopy, and age-related joint issues.

He is so friendly and has given her so much confidence that has really helped her heal and get better. He has patiently answered all her queries and has been so very responsive to all her messages and calls. His total involvement, thorough professionalism and infectious positive attitude has won her trust and confidence. He is her favourite doctor now. I highly recommend him.

Dr Aravindan was excellent overall in all aspects. He was very clear in making and communicating the diagnosis and the course of treatment. I was hesitant about a surgery (for Right Patella fracture), but he was able to explain with the help of my X-rays. He ensured all the pre-operation checks were completed quickly and surgery scheduled. Post-surgery, my rehab physio started quickly and dressings changed timely. The physiotherapist who saw my post-surgery X-rays spontaneously commented that it was an excellent job — tension band wiring. I am recovering fast. A big thank you to PROMED hospital and their efficient team. And a special thank you to my orthopaedic surgeon, Dr Aravindan.
Before I met him I really don't know what I am actually suffering from! But I could feel there was a mild swelling in the back of the head all of a sudden and which was painful. He diagnosed and I am surprised that he found what my problem is and what I'm actually suffering. The way he conveyed it was in a positive way and made me comfortable that I shouldn't be panicked. He is super cool and very patient in handling his patients. Suggestible Doctor to get treated soon for your issues!
